Dear conscious human,

Congratulations on completing the Conscious Coliving 101 course!

We have covered a lot over these past 5 days; the ingredients and opportunities available to us in this current time, what conscious coliving is, the benefits and the challenges. We’ve given you a checklist of what to look for, and the red flags to be aware of, as well as the 10 commandments to be mindful of to ensure a smooth transition into coliving communities.

🎁 In today’s lesson we’re going to tie it all together for you.

A summary of what you now know about conscious coliving

We’ve established that conscious living provides essential psycho-social foundations on which to build thriving coliving environments, especially in the long-term.

Conscious living does this by helping us deal with the challenges that can arise when we live with others. Whilst coliving can bring many benefits it can also inevitably bring up frictions – who accidentally threw out my leftovers from the fridge, who is playing their music too loud…

But we wanted to highlight the three ways that ultimately coliving supports conscious living, which is key to building a wiser, weller world.

Firstly, living in a community is often a key aspect of sustained engagement with the work of inner development (e.g. it's easier to meditate when others meditate).

Secondly, coliving within a strong community provides connection and support that helps us pursue our true desires, dreams and societal betterment.

Thirdly, coliving is a way for us to live more lightly on the planet, thus economizing our use of resources, and promoting a more sustainable way of being here.

We hope that after completing this course even if you choose not to colive, you will at least choose to live (more) consciously from now on.\

🥁 However, if this has piqued your interest about conscious coliving, here's what you can do next 🎉

Well, before we tell you that we actually want to introduce you to a 5th challenge that’s important for you to be aware of at this point.

😬 Challenge #5: Most communities fail (eventually)

A sad but true fact. This is frequently due to a lack of shared values, a sense of instability, misguided management or governance, and a fracturing due to conflict usually resulting from a lack of communication and consciousness.

So based on this challenge, what are the next steps?

Firstly, at Life Itself we have created our residencies with challenge #5 in mind. Our residencies take place at The Bergerac Praxis Hub.

Here we offer opportunities to explore what it really means to live more consciously together. The Bergerac Praxis Hub is a conscious coliving space based on daily collective practices.

These community practices can be summarized around 5 MVPs - Minimal Viable Practices. These are a set of practices to cultivate personal growth, community building, and a deep(er) connection with oneself and the world.

These practices include sitting (1) or moving collectively (2), engaging in daily activities such as cooking (3), cleaning and repair works (4), and participating in weekly circling sessions (5). Each of the practices, and the time spent at the residencies, involves being fully present, open, and receptive to the world, and emphasizes the importance of interconnectedness and interbeing.
