Dear conscious human,

Picture this, you're living with your mate Ahmed and he hasn't washed up in 3 weeks. You're just about ready to throw all his plates in the bin. You are angry at his blatant disrespect and general messiness - you aren’t 19 anymore!

So what do you do about it? Confront him? Sulk? Throw a tantrum and put his plates in the bin? Conflict sucks. It hurts everyone and we all suffer. It takes you further away from connection, causes a ton of unnecessary stress and can ultimately end in broken relationships. But it doesn't have to be this way…

**Welcome to Transforming Conflict in Community, the follow up course to Conscious Coliving 101: How to live a more conscious and connected life within community. **

Let’s jump in:

Over the course of the next 7 lessons you will gain an understanding, as well as the confidence to navigate the unnerving area of conflict. We will go on a journey to unpack the reasons why conflict might happen (you’ll be surprised with some of these), provide you with practical steps for conflict resolution that can create win/win situations for all involved, whilst also addressing the hard truths that comes along with conflict. You know us, we won’t skirt around the real stuff. At times this might be confronting. If you find yourself activated by anything we’ve written, we suggest you jot it down in a notebook and take some time to reflect upon it, your active and truthful participation is what will really turn this lesson course from informative in to useful.

\

In actively engaging with it you will:

  • Gain an understanding of how conflict arises
  • Understand that healthy conflict is normal and needed
  • Discover the usefulness of healthy conflict within relationships and communities
  • Gain practical steps you can implement to resolve conflict
  • Feel confident in navigating conflict should it arise

We’ve written this course for those of you who:

  • Are in or going in to a coliving situation and want to be better equipped
  • Want to learn how to be empowered more generally around conflict
  • Are currently in a period of conflict within a coliving situation and feel stuck
  • Have experienced conflict in the past and want to navigate future conflicts better and gain a strong sense of confidence to do so

Over the next 7 lessons we are going to give you a whole new insight into conscious conflict; its potential and its reality.

Here’s what we’re going to cover:

🌎 Day 1: We examine what conflict is and why it arises. We’ll introduce you to the topic of conflict within community and set the scene for the following days.

😡 Day 2: We dive into myth busting. We take the most common assumptions and pull them apart so you can approach conflict from a more neutral and grounded perspective.

🧼 Day 3: We examine the greatest causes of conflict within the community, why they occur and some tips on how to approach them.

😌 Day 4: We offer you ways to avoid conflict before it even happens and share tools and techniques which reduce the levels of conflict in a coliving environment.

🌻 Day 5: We explore the self work, and characteristics needed to navigate situations of conflict. We’ll include tips and suggestions on how to enhance these characteristics to make sure you aren’t the self-centered energy drainer in the group!

⚖️ Day 6: We dive into conflict resolution processes. We outline key ones that we would recommend and talk you through them.

🎁 Day 7: On our final day, we tie it all together. We'll review what we’ve learnt over the course, and where to go from here.

Throughout the course you will spot a well placed ✍️. At these points you are invited to take a moment to reflect upon a question in your journal. This will aid what you will get from this course and help you to not only integrate the information but learn more about yourself and how to transform conflict.\

I want to caveat that throughout this course we’ll be making the assumption that you are a relatively well-adjusted mature adult, open to self-enquiry and personal development.

We will also be using conscious coliving and community

interchangeably.

Who is Life Itself

Before we start with the course we thought it would be a good idea to tell you about who we are. Life Itself is an open community dedicated to the art of wiser living and social transformation. We favor approaches that prioritize inner development and cultural change in a rigorous, practical way. You can learn more about us here.

When it comes to conscious coliving and everything related to it we’re the real deal. Many of the founders of Life Itself have been practicing conscious coliving and its related practices for over a decade in everything from monasteries to intentional communities. We now have our own hubs dedicated to the practices of conscious coliving, where you can try it out for yourself. You can learn more about the Bergerac Praxis Hub here.

What this means is that between us, we’ve also had to navigate a number of situations and practices that are directly related to conscious coliving, such as conflict resolution.

Are you ready to get started?

We hope that you have integrated some of the knowledge gained in Conscious Coliving 101. If you haven’t read CC101, you can access it here. We would recommend you take time to cast your eye over it before reading the rest of this course, to make sure you’re on the same page as us.

We’re almost ready to dive in, but here are three quick actions that will help you get the most out of this course:

  1. Come and connect with the Life Itself community by joining our conscious coliving chat channel and dropping a message to introduce yourself!
  2. ✍️ Reflect on what it was that made you sign up for this course initially to really help you get the most out of it.

**Our first lesson will set the scene to help you understand what conflict is, why it arises, and how it can be transformational when approached consciously. **

We bet you can’t wait. 😉

See you soon!
